Monkey Puzzle Horsham, is an inclusive environment and welcomes children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).
We are a team of highly qualified and experienced staff with a wide range of expertise in supporting children with additional needs. Within the setting there is a trained and experienced Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCO) who is at hand to help children with SEND to ensure they are receiving the quality of care they need at the nursery.
The setting provides a safe, nurturing and stimulating environment where children can learn through play, socialise and have fun. The Key person system ensures that the children make good attachments with people who are important to them, supporting their confidence and self-esteem. Our nursery building is fully wheelchair accessible with an accessible toilet. We provide a visual environment with information accessible via signs, posters and pictures. Signing and visual prompt cards are regularly used to support children with speech and language delay and those whose first language is not English. We can organise the availability of specialist equipment e.g. walkers, supportive seating, radio aid e.t.c. through liaison with outside agencies.
We have an ‘Open Door’ policy where parents/carers can discuss concerns, issues and progress with their key person and other staff whenever is necessary. Families are encouraged to visit the setting to ensure that they feel it meets the needs of their child.
Your first point of contact would normally be your child’s key person. You are also welcome to share any concerns with the Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCO), the nursery manager or the room leader who works with your child.
