At Monkey Puzzle, we believe that healthy eating in childhood lays the foundation for a lifetime of good habits. Our approach to early childhood nutrition ensures every child enjoys balanced, freshly prepared meals that meet their childhood nutritional needs. Each dish is designed to support growth, learning, and wellbeing, with mealtimes that are a happy, sociable part of their day.
Our menus are created in partnership with Laura Matthews, a specialist in early years nutrition. Each menu offers a perfect balance of familiar favourites and exciting new tastes, encouraging children to explore different flavours and textures.

We’re so excited to be sharing some of the recipes used in our nursery kitchens from our new Spring/Summer menu for you to try at home too. Our menus are created in partnership with Laura Matthews, a specialist in early years nutrition.
This weeks recipe is...
🍓 Summer Berry Compote Porridge 🍓
This recipe serves 10 children (ages 1–5 years)
Ingredients:
Porridge:
• 150g porridge oats
• 1 litre whole milk
• Pinch of ground cinnamon (optional)
Summer Berry Compote:
• 300g mixed summer berries (strawberries and blueberries work well, fresh or frozen)
• 2 tbsp water
• ½ tsp vanilla extract (optional)
Known allergens:Contains cereals containing gluten (oats) and milk.
Method:
Make the compote:
1. Whole and halve the strawberries.
2. Place all the berries in a small saucepan with 2 tbsp of water.
3. Cook over a low-medium heat for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the berries have broken down and the mixture is thick and glossy.
4. Add vanilla extract if using.
5. Set aside to cool slightly before serving.
Make the porridge:
1. Put porridge oats and milk in a large saucepan.
2. Bring to a gentle simmer, stirring regularly.
3. Add cinnamon if using.
4. Cook for 4–5 minutes, stirring frequently, until porridge reaches desired consistency.
5. Add more milk if too thick, or keep cooking if too thin.
Serve: Spoon porridge into bowls and top with a spoonful of berry compote.
Chef`s tip: The compote can be made the day before and kept in the fridge, it will thicken further as it cools. Reheat gently before serving or serve at room temperature.

Mini Athletics takes the children on a amazing journey in athletic movement. They are introduced to the basics of athletic movement skills (running, jumping, throwing) in a play based yet structured format. Children are encouraged to develop athletic skills that are fundamental to their early physical development. In addition, the exercises build cognitive and social skills, preparing them for the early learning goals.

We’re delighted to announce that from 18th May, the wonderful Molly Moocow will be joining us at Monkey Puzzle Horsham as part of our extracurricular activities 🐮💛
@mollymoocowmoosic delivers vibrant, interactive sessions filled with music, movement, singing, storytelling, drama and role play. Creating magical learning experiences for our children every week 🎶✨
Inspired by the Montessori approach, each session is carefully designed to support every stage of development; from sensory exploration for babies to imaginative play for older toddlers. Using puppets, percussion instruments, props and play parachutes, the sessions encourage children to build confidence, coordination, creativity and social skills, all while having lots of fun!
We can’t wait to see our children learning, laughing and making wonderful memories together.

How To Find Monkey Puzzle Horsham
Monkey Puzzle Day Nursery Horsham, is proudly located in the heart of Horsham in the RH13 postal sector. The nursery is on Godwin Road, on the site of the old Roffey Youth Centre. We’re just round the corner from the Roffey Post Office and The Master Fryer. Horsham Railway Station is a 20 minute walk away and a short drive from the A264.
Opening times: 7:30am to 6:30pm
Monday to Friday for 51 weeks per year, (closed for the week between
Christmas and New Year)
